Due to rapid expansion of the Covid-19 pandemic, more countries and cities all over the world have had to develop and implement policies to restrict access at the expense of urban resilience in order to stop the virus from spreading. As a result, agricultural products logistics have been clogged and disrupted, with significant consequences for food security and nutrition.
In Malaysia, food security has been disrupted for a short period of time due to the impact of the pandemic as well and thus, urban farming has a great potential to strengthen the food security and building urban resilience in a midst of pandemic and changing climate.

This urban farming hub is designed to provide sustainable food supply, reducing dependency of local community on imported foods and to promote awareness and participation from the community in Bukit Mertajam and the world. The idea is aimed to create food security and solve the issues of food wastage from industry around the site.
This farming hub is also designed to encourage community engagement and participation from the community in Bukit Mertajam in the urban farming community programme with the integration of green living practices.
