Project 2: Taiping Retirement Village

Architectural Statement

This retirement villa is designed to accommodate at least 250 people with a height of maximum 4-storey building for providing an age-friendly village for senior citizens. It is located at a vacant site in Bukit Jana, 34600 Kamunting, Perak Darul Ridzuan with total gross floor area not more than 2500m2.

Following the Perak recorded the highest number of older persons among the states in Malaysia, with 14.9% of its population aged 60 and above and Taiping has been chosen as the only age-friendly town in Southeast Asia, retirement villages are in huge demand from retirees and senior citizens in Taiping to cater the needs of the elderly.

The Taiping retirement village is designed to foster strong social and inter-generation engagement for retirees and aged senior citizens within the community across Kamunting area and the world. The idea is aimed to provide comfort and active lifestyle environment in Taiping and intend to enhance the physical & mental wellness of the retirees.

This retirement village is also designed to achieve the enhancement of participation and encourage self-development, resolving the misconceptions associated with retirement village and nursing home.
