In this project, we were asked to form a group of consists of 5-6 people to design a small and functional shelter for ONE homeless person. We were needed to make a scale 1:1 of proposed homeless shelter (Real life scale) and produce three A2 paper of presentation boards in landscape orientation.
Our project is named as Priom which is a word comes from another two words that are privacy and dome. The shelter is designed to give private and protection to the homeless person. It is mobile and foldable. There is an enough space for the occupant to sleep, sit and change their clothes. The materials used for the roof and walls allow light enter and illuminate the interior of the shelter, but also provide privacy for the occupant as they cannot be seen through.
Design concept is inspired by the shape of an enclosed life boat. Just like an enclosed life boat, our shelter aims to provide space for the occupant against natural elements after they had lost their home.
