There is an endless amount of pencil, pen, and watercolor rendering techniques. In this project, I have learned the basics of hatching, stippling, blending, marker and watercolor techniques with warm, cool and full color. Before I got enrollment from USM I had taken up freehand outdoor sketching as my hobby, so hatching and blending were not the techniques that I felt unfamiliar with, just needing some time to brush up since I last practiced. For stippling, it is the most time-consuming technique in comparison to others but it is also the most satisfying for me to see the complete drawing. What I was trying to emphasize on this drawing were to make the surau HBP as the main character and create a negative space in this drawing.
After referring to some artwork from social media, I started figuring out what kinds of style of marker rendering techniques would actually suit me. To ensure the integrity tone of overall drawing, I decided to render it to be neat and tidy by depicting the light and shadow out using different lightweight of markers and artline pens. At last, I once thought watercolor would be my nightmare because it was my third time for me to practise this skill, but after endless trials, I could able to produce three watercolor artworks with different tones. I created an abstract background with the landscape in it, blending together avoid getting too much detail with the grass and trees because I did not want to create another focal point to ensure the overall tone of these seven drawings. What I was trying to achieve for these drawings were to create an artwork which could capture people's attention at a certain far distance and make people feel comfortable when appreciating it by ensuring the consistency of color values that had been applied.
