PROJECT 3A - MY ID IN 3D
The inspiration for this sculpture comes from the shape of my signature. It seems like a little bit of uninteresting and prosaic shape, so I intend to transform my signature from two-dimensional shape to three-dimensional form by making it more rhythmic with regular rhythm on the upper part of the sculpture and repetitive for its sides.
My design intent is to create a form that represents my thought by making a flexible sculpture with a rigid body which represents my personalities. Start from the left part of the plan view, this part is the stage when I felt drawn to retreat and my mind kept spinning in the same way because, in part of my life, I had been making same mistakes that made me felt regret and guilt. At some point, I could not even accept the reality of getting the results that I did not use to get. Thus, I felt confused and had a strong feeling of fear to step forward from that situation. I started to get myself breakthrough from being trapped in the same situation for the next stage so I made the form to spin up which represents my energy rising up and find myself into a space of peace. It somehow showed the wave of a transformation of my thoughts and embraced the process of searching for myself.
As you can see from my sculpture, there are 22 trapezoids which keep changing their sizes. These trapezoids represent my current age now which is 21 years old and the last piece of the trapezoid symbolizes my future self and I hope my future self could always remind himself to surrender his ego and the power will keep rising. For me, silver color is like a mirror to our soul that helps me to be introspective for what I have done for the past in my life and helps me to draw negative energy out of my mind and replaces it with the positive one. The materials that I have used for this sculpture are just satay stick, hot glue gun, and silver color spray.
