PROJECT 3A - SITE ANALYSIS

In this project, we were assigned to visit the site at Nur Laman Bestari Eco Resort to observe surrounding of the site and make a site analysis for the site. After the collection of relevant data and information of the neighbourhood areas, all students had been divided into 2 groups which were site analysis and site model.

I chose to be part of the site model group as I knew I would learn the elevation of the topography, and how the design affects it. In the progress of doing site model, we learnt that the site model needed to provide a scale reproduction of a site with information about the existing buildings around the site, existing infrastructure, circulation, greenery and water areas. In this project, I learned that in order to achieve success, the collaboration from everyone in the team are important to generate far better result for site analysis and leadership are also key to affecting the path and outcome of the project.

PROJECT 3B - PRESENTATION BOARDS

The project is to design a single-story small liveable sanctum. The overall design was designated for use by musicians. The proposed site is located at Sungai Tua Recreational Park in Batu Caves, Selangor. The proposed design design accommodate 1 to 2 person and proposed built area is not more than 40 square meter including an open deck. The intent is to create a link between people and space through common harmonic ratios in both music and environment to the design of the structure and give the sense of silent and dynamic to the users. The materials used are mostly timber and glass which illustrate solid and semi-transparent element, representing different tones of music and its vocal weight.

The design is inspired by the common similarity between the design principle of architecture and the fundamental concept of music - rhythm. There is a rhythmic pattern in floor and roof plan where radial-concentric layout has been applied. The height of each platform and roof for each space are different, getting higher starting from entrance. There are rhythmic of openings on different facade of spaces. Those rhythmic aspect creates more profound rhythmic experience so as to feel the sense of silent and dynamic.
