PROJECT 4A - SITE ANALYSIS

Site Analysis Presentation Board

In this project, we were assigned to visit the site at the Tasik Aman and Tasik Harapan to observe surrounding of the site so we could have an initial understanding of the site and generate far better result for site analysis. After the collection of relevant data and information of the neighbourhood areas, all students had been divided into 3 groups which were site analysis, site model and also site improvement plan.

I chose to be part of the site model as I knew I would learn the elevation of the topography, and how the design affects it. In the progress of doing site model, we learnt that the site model needed to provide a scale reproduction of a site with information about the existing buildings around the site, existing infrastructure, circulation, greenery and water areas. In this project, I learned that nothing could be done if there was only one's effort and it needed the collaboration from everyone in the team.

PROJECT 4B & 4C - FOLLY

PROJECT 4B

For project 4B, we are required to select one proposed site with substantial justification of selected site to design a folly for public usage which should accommodate between 4 to 5 person at a time based on the site analysis that had been done in the project 4A. The proposed site that I chose is located nearby the Tasik Aman which has a great access for people to visit it. The maximum area for the folly is 15m^2 and deck is 5m^2.

The idea of this folly is inspired by the form that is created based on the site analysis that has been done. The free form shape of the floor plan layout and its dynamic impressions in flight in the roof design reflecting the image of a fallen leaf which reminds us if the transitory of the nature of life.

The main design intent is to create an atmosphere that get people away from the bustle life for a transient moment of relaxation by providing them a space for leisure activity & engaging with the natural environment. The overall exposed design is to communicate with the landscape by opening up the space to allow more natural ventilation to be carried out.

PROJECT 4C

in this project, I have made a scale model with the scale of 1:25 with the surrounding site so that people could imagine my proposed design that had been presented in Project 4B in reality. The materials that I used for this project are white 2 ply modeling board, super glue and plastic sheets.
